Dan Halstrom, Senior Vice President of Marketing, with the U.S. Meat Export Federation joined us on Friday’s Ag Issues program. Halstrom commented on the continued strong momentum for U.S. red meat exports. He also looked at what’s upcoming in the renegotiating of the North American Free Trade Agreement and the importance of Canada and Mexico to the U.S. red meat market. Halstrom also commented the recent announcement that U.S. beef are allowed back into China and that it will be a slow ramp up to get the product into the country. He also discussed the announced E.U.-Japan trade agreement and what direction the U.S. may go in regards to getting a bilateral trade agreement with Japan.
